Maddie Hasson Joins Netflix’s FTX Series ‘The Altruists’

SOURCE VARIETY – Netflix‘s upcoming limited series about infamous cryptocurrency exchange FTX has added 10 new cast members, Variety has learned.

Joining the show, titled “The Altruists,” as series regulars are: Eugene Young (“Veep,” “NCIS: Los Angeles”) as Gary Wang, Madison Hu (“The Brothers Sun”) as Constance Wang, Karan Soni (“Deadpool,” “Miracle Workers”) as Nishad Singh, Matt Rife (“Rolling Loud”) as Ryan Salame, Alex Lawther (“Alien Earth”) as Sam Trabucco, and Naomi Okada as Claire Watanabe.

In addition, the following will join the show in recurring roles: Maddie Hasson (“The Recruit”) as Lauren Platt, Marianna Phung (“Y: The Last Man”) as Lily Zhang, Paul Reiser (“The Kominsky Method,” “Mad About You”) as Joe Bankman, and Robin Weigert (“Deadwood,” “Big Little Lies”) as Barbara Fried.

The new additions join previously announced leads Julia Garner and Anthony Boyle, who will star as Caroline Ellison and Sam Bankman-Fried. Netflix has given the show an eight-episode order.

The official logline states that the show is “The story of Sam Bankman-Fried and Caroline Ellison, two hyper-smart, ambitious young idealists who tried to remake the global financial system in the blink of an eye – and then seduced, coaxed, and teased each other into stealing $8 billion.”

Moore and Jacqueline Hoyt serve as executive producers and co-showrunners. Garner will executive produce in addition to starring. James Ponsoldt will direct the first episode and executive produce. Vinnie Malhotra and Jessie Dicovitsky executive produce for Higher Ground Productions along with Scoop Wasserstein for New York Magazine/Vox Media Studios, Tonia Davis, and Lauren Morelli.
